The trio that fell to the ground.....

During the time I had with my brother I never noticed how ill he was, the man was always laughing and joking around. We had a fun time with him every day was like a new day with him where he brought a smile on my face. Kassim and Yusuf had this love hate relationship where they would sometimes have these weird arguments about who is going to do what when they grow up. I remember Yusuf saying "don't come to my house when I have my wife asking for salt because I will never give you." As a child who says that right ? Yusuf did! Kassim always took it and laughed then he moved on to the next  game or whatever he has got next.

We were the worst trio, with different agendas as I said previously I was the diva!, Yusuf was the talker, Kassim was the peacemaker and the fun one. My brothers used to go to Groom-bridge primary school and when I started going to Avondale primary school they got moved to the same school but it was just a few yards away from my campus, which meant that they would come to pick me up and then go home together.

That dark season came along, it felt like a very dark, gory cloud came on top of our roof. Kassim went into hospital meaning that just two people will be going to school and walking by themselves. The day before we had a massive shiny chocolate cake for his birthday. The atmosphere was very chilly, my head was just not in the celebratory mood because our brother was critically ill, this dimmed Yusuf's light a lot and as a child I could see that but I couldn't explain it I just never saw a smile on his face.

The trio went downhill overnight, going to school never felt so different. I tried to look for friendship every other way I could but I just couldn't. Till this day I wondered why I never had a long term friendship with anyone outside of my family.
